Birthday presents

Two weeks ago, I turned 22 years old. I think I don’t really realize that I’m no longer considered as a child, it’s the beginning of the adult life. I find it quite cool and my opinion on it is very positive, I have so much to discover. Even if at this age we all have some fears, serious, important choices have to be taken and we gradually discover the joy of duties, paperworks,…

When you celebrate your birthday, you always realize how your family and friends know you well. I was so delighted when I saw all these beautiful presents… And so touched.

Stuffed butterflies (didn’t find the exact word so I may be wrong). I know it seems horrible for some people, cruel. I totally understand it, but I’m just fascinated. Since my childhood, I’ve always been interested and fascinated by curiosity cabinets and it just reminds me of them.

Jasmin green tea by Dammann Frères, perfect to start the day if you want something light. I used to drink the Kusmi Tea one, but this one is much more refined and delicate. I don’t know if you can see, but there are jasmin petals in it!

& Other stories Body soufflé & Body Scrub. These products smell soooo gooood, and impregnate your clothes. A floral scent, not too heavy. And the scrub is not too rough, I love the feeling after using it. It’s made of granulated sugar.

Zara earrings, they are so beautiful. I love gold and pearls, perfect combination!

Roger & Gallet « eau bienfaisante », this fragrance is very light and refreshing. This one is made of roses.

Daniel Wellington watch, I wanted one for sooo long. Compared to others, they’re not so expensive and I love their classy style.

Au Fond du Jardin

I recently discovered (thanks to a friend) the famous Tea Room and shop « Au Fond du Jardin » in Strasbourg, created by Fred and Laurent. They created the Madeleines du Voyage and a fantastic universe. If you come to Strasbourg, you have to see it! The Madeleines are the most refined delicacies you can find on earth. You can of course enjoy them with a cuppa in a wonderful atmosphere: refined tea set, floral patterns, muffled atmosphere of intimacy. A new decoration for each season! It’s like travelling through time. Moreover, you can find teas with uncommon names and flavours. Here you can find London Bridge, an Earl Grey tea. Last week I purchased a candle named « Winter at Downton » which smells incredibly good, this scent is the perfect one for cold days. Today I came back home with this gorgeous box of Madeleines for my family, I don’t know what are their names and flavours, but I ate one and it was sooo good, Rose flavoured I think. So, I wanted to share it with you, because you can’t forget such a place! (By the way, what a joy to be welcomed in such a pleasant way). I also tried to create a cosy autumnal atmosphere.

Autumn afternoon at the park

Holidays are not really holidays because of the work I have to do for Uni, but I finally have time to spend with my family and to go for a walk in parks with beautiful rusty shades. It has been a while I wanted to show you some outfits, but I just didn’t dare to do it. So, here are some of my favorite pieces of the moment and pictures of the park with Autumn shades!

Zara scarf from last year, but you can find some similar in their current collection here.

Zara coat and Minelli shoes.

Topshop velvet bag, I love it soooo much!

H&M Velvet Bow Hair clip from last year. You can find the same on American Apparel.

Zara dress, I like the color and the material which looks like silk.

Look at this ground covered by the leaves, isn’t it wonderful?

I don’t know if it’s because of the weather, but I currently really enjoy paintings such as still lives, interior scenes, with cosy settings. Winter is coming slowly, and I just want to stay at home with a cup of tea and Downton Abbey on my TV. So, here is my selection of paintings which I discovered these last couple of weeks!

Emilie Preyer, Still life with fruits and champagne

This still life is absolutely wonderful. It was the first time I saw a still life with a glass of Champagne. Every element of a still life has a meaning, and I wonder what symbolizes this glass! Emilie Preyer (1849-1930) was the daughter of Joseph Wilhelm Preyer, famous for this kind of paintings.

Jean-Etienne Liotard, Tea set

Liotard (1702-1789) came from Swiss, worked in France and Italy. He painted a lot of portraits, and I think this painting is quite unusual. As you may guess I’m a huge tea lover and I had to love this painting of Asian tea pots and tea cups. By the way, have you seen the beautiful tray?

Victor Guerrier, Rendez vous

What a beautiful and classy woman! I didn’t find a lot of informations about Victor Guerrier, I only know he was born in 1893 and died in 1968. This painting caught my eyes, especially the woman. I love the color of her elegant outfit.

Joseph Bail, Nature morte à la carafe et aux couverts de voyage

Joseph Bail was a French painter, born in 1862 and died in 1921. He recieved a price at the Great Exhibition of 1900. I really like the softness of this still life. Usually this kind of paintings has dark shades.

Henri Fantin-Latour, Roses

Fantin-Latour (1836-1904) met famous painters such as Gustave Courbet, Edgar Degas, Manet… The reason why I love this painting is quite obvious: flowers!

Ramon Casas, La grasse matinée

Casas (1866-1932) was a Spanish painter. The bed is just so inviting and looks so comfortable. I really like the colors. I love sleeping and I’d love to sleep in such a beautiful bed haha!

Charles Courtney Curran, Lotus lilies

Charles Courtney Curran (1861-1942) was an American painter, famous for canvases depicting women in various settings. This one is particularly wonderful and uncommon!

An evening at Home, Sir Edward John Poynter

Poynter (1836-1919) was a British painter and the president of the Royal Academy of Arts in London. I love the cosiness of this painting and the paintings and the mirror hanging on the blue wall.

Hope you enjoy these paintings as I do! Let me know what you think!
